A (Long) Note from our Founder

THE INTRO TO MY PERSONAL LASH JOURNEY
Pour yourself a glass of something pretty nice, and buckle down to read this novel.

I was hooked on lash serum the moment I discovered it. A swipe a day of this magical elixir to make lashes look FIRE? Sign. Me. UP! However, my first time using it, I naively didn't read the ingredients. While I did love how the serum made my lashes grow (which I now know was from a v bad ingredient called prostaglandins in this particular serum that has since been pulled off the market), my eyes were a hot mess. They were itchy AF, and it even flared up eczema on my eye lids. Big eww. I always knew I had sensitive skin after using numerous makeup and skincare products over the years, but this was something else. I thought beauty is pain, right? It was a small price to pay to have extra long, thick lashes to make my eyes even more alluring.

FROM PROBLEM TO PASSION
Cue the pandemic, and endless hours to learn new things... Like baking sourdough bread, watching tutorials for heatless curls, and even studying lash serums. During this time, I became obsessed with researching lash serums that would make my lashes look AND feel great. So, with endless time that was forced upon me, I became an unofficial lash serum tester, trying nearly every serum brand on the market over the next three years.

I came across two reoccurring problems:

  • The ingredients: while many serums did work, I discovered it was likely because of some harmful ingredients that I reacted to.
  • The expense: as a girly who already has to pay "big bucks" for medical-grade skin care for this ultra-sensitive skin, adding a lash serum that was only 3ml and cost nearly $100 (or in some cases, MORE!) was no bueno for me.

SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUP?
After "sucking it up" in the vain name of beauty, and spending hundreds of dollars on natural lash serums that didn't irritate my eyes, I decided I wanted to create my own serum that was safe to use and didn't cost a pretty penny. Access to natural/clean beauty shouldn't come at a cost. It seemed borderline criminal (mmk, a tad dramatic) to me to punish consumers for wanting to use vegan cosmetic products that were safer to use by jacking up the price. Feeling like Robin Hood, I decided to find a way to fix this problem for others simply wanting a safe beauty product alternative.

INTRODUCING: PRETTY PLEASE
Countless hours of R&D have been dedicated to creating a safe and effective formula regulated by Health Canada. We are proud to have meticulously crafted a scientifically-backed, gentle formula using a powerful blend of potent botanical ingredients. I am confident that Pretty Please had curated a pretty fantastic formula, packed with science-backed hair-growth ingredients, powered by mutipeptides and plant extracts. I am proud to say that Pretty Please not only solves my problem (selfishly, for me, but also now for you!) of using a non-irritating, natural-based serum that was more affordable than alternatives on the market.

LOOK GOOD, FEEL BETTER
Our cruelty-free lash serum is shipped in compostable mailers, and our packaging is recyclable. Furthermore, I knew my lash serum struggle was the definition of a First World Problem, so it was crucial to me to find a way to give back to women who were truly struggling, which is why we have committed to donating a portion of proceeds from each sale to a remarkable organization called Women for Women International. This organization helps women-survivors in 14 war-torn, dangerous regions, that may have been stripped of their basic freedoms, trapped in poverty, or subjected to sexual assaults and other terrible war-crimes.

Pretty Please is kind to animals, the planet, women in dire need, and of course, your delicate skin. We hope you love it as much as we do, because we believe this is
something
pretty darn special.
